How to Start

Get Going with LASR

Interested in using LASR to evaluate your software? You don’t need much to get started. You don’t have to be a formally trained software architect, nor do you need extensive system documentation. LASR is easy to apply and supports you every step of the way… Here, you’ll find useful starting points to kick off your journey.

Just Begin

The best way to start with LASR is with one or two colleagues and without a special occasion. Simply being curious about where your solution stands is enough. In fact, external pressure to conduct a review can sometimes be counterproductive when you’re new to review methods.

Set aside a few hours and dive in. The figure to the right shows an example agenda for your first LASR review workshop.

Get to Know the Steps

As shown in the example agenda above, you can complete an initial LASR review in just a few hours. The process follows three main steps, with an optional fourth step to refine the results and increase confidence if needed.

It offers detailed guidance on conducting and moderating LASR activities, along with examples of possible outcomes. This can be especially helpful if you feel uncertain about getting started. But don’t worry — LASR isn’t that hard. Just dive in and explore!
